Harrogate Neighbourhood Policing and PCSO's

Launched in April 2005, Neighbourhood Policing will change the way North Yorkshire is policed.

It is about getting more staff and officers closer to the public they protect and serve.
Dedicated teams will be tasked to deal with the issues that can make a real difference to the quality of life in our communities.

These teams will be pro-active problem-solvers, who in simple terms, will be tasked with partners to bring about lasting solutions. It may be by arresting drug dealers or dealing with anti-social behaviour issues or a host of other loacal community problems.

Below are two downloadable maps in PDF format which detail which police officer from the Neighbourhood policing team looks after which area of Harrogate and the surrounding areas.
They are large files and may take some time to download !

Currently there are photographs being taken of the officers and contact details being provided so as soon as this is done, they will appear on this page.

Police Community Support Officers

They are a uniformed presence pounding the streets of North Yorkshire , complementing the work of police officers by focusing predominantly on low level crime, disorder and anti social behaviour.

The Police Community Support Officers are managed and tasked by local community safety teams in consultation with stakeholders and communities. They work between the hours of 8.00am and 10.00pm, with a shift pattern covering seven days a week.

As from 1 August 2005 the Police Community Support Officers WILL have the power to detain a person for up to 30 minutes pending the arrival of a constable, and the power to use reasonable force to detain a person , or prevent he/she from making off. Also from this date they will have the power to issue Fixed Penalty Tickets for Disorder, and direct and control traffic in the same way as Traffic Wardens.
The Harrogate District PCSO's are willing to assist with Neighbourhood Watch from set up meetings, to leaflet drops etc.
